GEA Turkey were one of the first teams from within Turkey to respond to the recent earthquake. As you will note the team rescued 24 people from the collapsed buildings, which is a fantastic achievement and of course also a tremendous success for RAPID UK. Following the two 1999 earthquakes in Turkey RAPID UK trained up teams for GEA some of which was funded by the British Embassy. From 1999 to 2003 several training periods were carried out, followed by equipment donations, which shaped the GEA team of today. RAPID UK continues to carry out training for GEA upon request with the last training visits during 2010.
